Building a GREAT Future for Local Youth
During the summer of 2017, the board of directors, staff, and several champion volunteers kicked off a campaign to raise $6.5 million for a brand new Club facility in Detroit Lakes. The new facility will allow our Detroit Lakes Club to serve all of our members in one location, offer more and better activities for kids of all ages, and most importantly - continue to address the needs of children and families in our community - especially as they relate to academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship - three essential keys to the great futures that all kids deserve.
Since beginning our campaign, generous individuals, businesses, and foundations have contributed just over $6 million to our Building a Great Future Campaign - leaving us just $500,000 shy of our goal - but we know with the support of our community we will succeed in meeting our goal.
Groundbreaking for our new facility took place on May 10, 2018. Demolition of our existing facility is scheduled to begin thereafter, with new construction to follow. During our displacement, Club services will be held at True Life Church on Highway 59 North and at Grace Lutheran Church on Roosevelt Avenue. We anticipate opening the doors to our new facility in the spring of 2019.
