Giving Hearts Day is important now, more than ever for both our Detroit Lakes and Perham Clubs. Throughout this pandemic, both club sites have continued providing important programming and services to local youth and their families, such as: summer and afterschool care, full-day hybrid learning support, as well as critical curbside resources for families to utilize at home.

Detroit Lakes Site $50,000 Goal
Boys & Girls Club of Detroit Lakes has an Anonymous Match Partner this year who is matching Giving Hearts Day gifts up to $25,000! Gifts will go to work immediately supporting the ongoing critical work of mentoring local youth which happens every day at the Club. When you show your LOVE to the Club, you provide GREAT FUTURES for local youth!
In addition, a percentage of funds raised this year will be used to prepare safety features for the future outdoor youth recreation and playground area such as proper fencing and poured in place rubber surfacing. With these important safety features in place, our youth will have more opportunities to spend time outside and live healthy and active lifestyles.
Boys & Girls Club of the Perham Area will kick off our fundraising efforts as we prepare to move into the Hub later this year - this will be the new home for the Perham Club which will allow them to serve more youth and increase their impact in the community of Perham.
Perham's new site will include additional space for us to serve more youth, a dedicated teen space, and a beautiful gym space. Having a gym will allow us to provide additional large motor and movement activities for our members, when the weather is less than ideal.
Funds raised this year will be used to purchase equipment for the gym in our new space. This is the first time in our ten year history that we will have dedicated gym space so our list of needs is expansive! It includes: foosball and air hockey tables, 4 square ping pong table, standard ping pong table, arcade basketball game, scooters, a large assortment of balls, hula hoops, scooters, goal nets, a sound system and storage units.
About Giving Hearts Day Giving Hearts Day is a 24-hour online fundraising event hosted by Dakota Medical Foundation and The Impact Foundation. Charities Organizations participating in Giving Hearts Day obtain matching funds to double the impact of donations. This year marks the 14th consecutive year of Giving Hearts Day, and 400 nonprofits and charitable causes from all over North Dakota and western Minnesota are expected to participate. In 2020, a total of $19.1 million was raised on Giving Hearts Day in just 24 hours through the contributions of nearly 35,000 generous donors. Since it began in 2008, Giving Hearts Day has raised more than $90 million for charities.
